Feelings & Emotions: Frequently Asked Questions
How do we describe feelings in English?
Use be + adjective for states (I'm happy, she is nervous) or feel + adjective (I feel tired). For temporary states we often prefer adjectives like worried rather than worry.
What is the difference between excited and exciting?
Excited describes how a person feels (I'm excited about the trip). Exciting describes the thing that causes the feeling (The trip is exciting). This -ed/-ing pattern works for many emotion words.
